Vocational training

With a focus on practical skills rather than traditional academic studies, a vocational course opens the door to learning for those students with an idea of the career they would like to pursue. It could put you on a direct route to the future you’ve always wanted.

Relating to a specific area of employment or industry sector, vocational courses often feature hands-on work experience. You’ll be able to apply your knowledge, solve problems, build your team-working skills and undertake ‘real life’ projects which are directly relevant to the world of work.

Vocational qualifications are not only respected and recognised by employers but are also regarded as equivalent to academic courses by universities and other educational institutions.

And there’s an added bonus if you are not keen on the pressure of end-of-year exams. Assessment of vocational courses tends to be based on the practical tasks and assignments you complete throughout the year.

So, if you’re well-organised, focused and enthusiastic about the subject you would like to study, take a closer look at the vocational courses available at Weston College. There’s an enormous range to choose from, including:

You may also wish to consider an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes which give you the skills, knowledge, experience and a nationally-recognised vocational qualification.

You will develop the majority of your skills and knowledge in the workplace, working alongside experienced and skilled staff. In some cases, you will also have the opportunity of attending ‘off-the job’ training sessions at one of our local training centres.
